Air purification

Graphene can enhance the purification performance of air conditioning systems.

We specialize in the development of graphene materials suitable for heating, ventilation and air conditioning technologies. Graphene and Graphene Oxide have large surface areas and abundant oxygen-containing groups, making them effective for adsorbing a broad range of contaminants.

Effective against viruses, bacteria, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs):

VOC and PFAS

Graphene shows promising potential in air purification, with its ability to capture certain airborne pathogens and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it a valuable component for public air conditioning systems, such as those in airplanes, airports, hospitals, and train carriages. Graphene-based removal of PFAS is in some cases applied as the final step in the purification process. Such technologies can play a significant role in enhancing air quality and could contribute to the defence against the spread of respiratory diseases in high-traffic environments.

Supporting SDG 3

Graphene-based air filtration has great potential to improve the performance of air conditioning systems. Graphene’s superior ability to trap and neutralize airborne pollutants aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal 3. Moreover, the expected durability and energy efficiency of graphene filters can contribute to lower energy consumption and less frequent replacements, offering cost savings and environmental benefits.
